Hello! I’m Indigo.

I research how individuals and collectives experience digital inclusion and participation. To date, I have done so in three contexts: (1) cultural institutions, (2) households, and (3) communities.

Cultural institutions
I am currently investigating how digital exclusion affected Australian cultural institutions during COVID-19. Previously, I have collaborated with community museums, and remote Aboriginal art festivals [1]. I examined the digital future of ACMI’s audiences with Professor Larissa Hjorth, Jacina Leong, and Adeline Onicas [2].

Households
Presently, I am researching digital exclusion in low-income households with Dr Jenny Kennedy.  I am also examining COVID-19 and household digital work practices with Professor Tania Lewis and Dr Andrew Glover.

Communities
I contributed to the 2018 Australian Digital Inclusion Index [3], which measures the relative digital inclusion of communities around the country. I am currently working to improve the Index structure, as part of a team led by Professor Julian Thomas. Between 2016-2019, I researched digital inclusion and cyber safety in remote Indigenous communities with Associate Professor Ellie Rennie and Dr Tyson Yunkaporta [4, 5, 6, 7].

I currently hold a research role in the Technology, Communication and Policy Lab at RMIT, and I tutor at Monash University in the School of Media and Communications.
